For nearly 80 years, the coral trees of San Vicente Boulevard have formed one of Santa Monica’s most iconic urban forests. Then came a decade of DISASTROUS CITY COUNCIL STEWARDSHIP. During the 2015 drought, the City stopped watering grassy medians and wrongly included the historical Urban Forest of Coral Trees on San Vicente Blvd. and they just admitted that their less water irrigation system failed in July 2026. As a result, 32 Coral Trees who literally DIED OF THIRST. As residents notice the lack of leaves with Alarm, then the city council then had the audacity to CUT DOWN 13 MATURE TREES before BEFORE a scheduled community meeting Aug 6 to address our concerns.. Now there are cones around many more trees, implying a tree massacre. There is a meeting by the Urban Forest on Oct 14th at the Santa Monica Library. Will they cut down more before then AGAIN?
